Town of Berlin – 2025 Municipal Election
In accordance with state law, only one candidate filed a Statement of Candidacy for each of the following municipal offices by the deadline of 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025:
Mayor – Patrick Bates
Town Council, Place 1 – Donald Gunter
Town Council, Place 2 – Steven Michael Clark
Town Council, Place 3 – Edith Stevenson
Town Council, Place 4 – Eudon Bates
Town Council, Place 5 – Keith Hardman
As each position is unopposed, the candidates listed above will be declared elected in accordance with Alabama state law. The municipal election scheduled for August 26, 2025, will not be held.

Notice Of Election
Of Municipal Officers
NOTICE is hereby given that on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, an election for the purpose of electing a Mayor and Town Council Places 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, for the Town of Berlin, Alabama, will be held, and that all registered and qualified electors of the state, who reside within the corporate limits of the Town of Berlin, Alabama, and have resided therein for 30 days or more immediately preceding the date of the election, and who are qualified to vote in the county precinct which embraces and covers that part of the corporate limits of the town in which the elector resides, will be authorized to participate in the election.
The polls will be opened at the Berlin Town Hall. If necessary, a run-off election will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
Any qualified elector who will have resided within the municipality, or if the municipality is districted, within the district from which he or she seeks election, for a period of at least 90 days on election day may qualify to run for office by filing the appropriate forms and paying any appropriate fees, as otherwise provided by law.
The qualification period to run for office begins on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. and ends Tuesday June 24, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. The Berlin Town Hall will be closed on June 19, 2025, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
The polls for the municipal elections will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the voting place in Berlin, Alabama as follows:

2025 Municipal Election Information
The Town of Berlin elects the following positions at each 4-year election term:
- Mayor
- Council Members – currently 5 at-large members
The Alabama League of Municipalities has published “Duties of the Mayor and Council” to help understand the distinct roles and separation of duties.
Berlin’s last election was held in 2020. In 2021, the Alabama State Legislature voted to move municipal elections off the same calendar year as presidential elections. Officials elected in 2020 will serve until 2025. Municipal elections will be held on August 26, 2025.
The Town Clerk’s office is responsible for overseeing the election process.
