Regular Meeting

  • Meeting called to order by Mayor Patrick Bates on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 7:00 P.M.
  • Roll call by Clerk Keirstyn Montgomery. All members present.
  • Mayor Patrick Bates asked for public comments, Fire Chief Ralph Laney reported that 500 WR-120 Weather Radios have been delivered and 250 additional radios are ordered.
  • Approval of minutes from January 18, 2021 Regular Meeting. Motion to approve by Donald Gunter, second by Jimbo Quick. Approved 6-0.
  • Mayor Patrick Bates presented quotes for Town Hall steps and accessibility. Motion to hire Kreps Concrete Construction, LLC in the amount of $11,600 with Town of Berlin to provide additional material costs made by Keith Hardman, second by Donald Gunter. Approved 6-0.
  • Council discussed citizens’ concerns about the stop sign at County Road 1612 & County Road 1614. Motion to relocate stop sign to the end of County Road 1614 made by Keith Hardman, second by Donald Gunter. Approved 6-0.
  • Council approved $785.00 for Certified Municipal Clerk training courses through the University of Alabama & International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) for Berlin Town Clerk, Keirstyn Montgomery. Motion to approve by Keith Hardman, second by Donald Gunter. Approved 6-0.
  • Council made motion to authorize Mayor Patrick Bates to sign a non-disclosure agreement with the Alabama Department of Revenue. Motion by Keith Hardman, second by Donald Gunter. Approved 6-0.
  • Council made motion to approve $200.00 in office supplies for the Town Hall. Motion by Jimbo Quick, second by Don Bates. Approved 6-0.
  • Council authorized Town to receive quotes for signage for the Town Hall. Motion to approve by Keith Hardman, second by Jimbo Quick. Approved 6-0.
  • Council discussed Farmers Market Rules & Regulations. Tabled until next Regular Meeting.
  • Approval of February invoices. Motion to approve by Don Bates, second by Donald Gunter. Approved 6-0.
  • In other business, Council authorized Mayor Patrick Bates to work with NARCOG and Economic Development to prepare documentation for possible 75/25 match grant coordinated through FEMA for a storm shelter for the town as well as, look for grant opportunities for walking trails and playground. Motion to approve by Donald Gunter, second by Keith Hardman. Approved 6-0.
  • Motion to adjourn by Jimbo Quick, second by Keith Hardman. Approved 6-0.

  • The next meeting of the Berlin Town Council will be March 15, 2021 at the Berlin Community Center at 7PM.
