MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE
TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF BERLIN, ALABAMA
HELD MONDAY, MAY 20, 2024
The Town Council of the Town of Berlin met in Regular Session on this date and time following publication and posting pursuant to Alabama law.
Meeting called to order by Mayor Patrick Bates on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 7:02 P.M. at the Berlin Town Hall.
Invocation – Councilman Donald Gunter.
Pledge of Allegiance – Mayor Patrick Bates.

Public Comments – There were none.
- Councilman James Sanford made motion to approve Minutes from April 15, 2024, Regular Meeting. Second made by Councilman Keith Hardman. Approved 6-0.
First reading of ORDINANCE NO.: 2024-001 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SCHEDULES A, D, AND R OF ORDINANCE 2022-005 PERTAINING TO BUSINESS LICENSES. Motion to approve made by James Sanford second made by Councilman Tony Duke. Approved 6-0. - Mayor Patrick Bates informed Council that the Berlin Cemetery has now been renamed the Berlin/Kritner Cemetery and has been approved to be recognized by the Alabama Historical Commission’s Historical Cemetery Register.
- Council discussed Right-of-Way on 747.
- Councilman Donald Gunter made motion to seek 4 temporary, part-time employees for the Community Day Tractor Show in celebration of Sweet Grown Alabama on July 13, 2024. Position to not exceed 20 hours weekly with an hourly rate of $15. Second made by Councilman Keith Hardman. Approved 6-0.
- Council discussed U.S. Department of Labor Final Ruling.
- Mayor Patrick Bates gave update on Community Storm Shelter.
- Council discussed preliminary work received from St. John & Associates for County Roads 1612 & 1614. Councilman James Sanford made motion to turn County Roads 1612 & 1614 into gravel and pursue CBDG Grant for future work.
- Motion to adjourn made by Councilman James Sanford. Second made by Councilman Tony Duke. Approved 6-0.
The Town Council of the Town of Berlin adjourned at 7:47 PM.
The next Regular Meeting of the Berlin Town Council will be June 17, 2024, held at the Berlin Town Hall at 7:00 PM.
