RESOULTION NO.: 2025-002
A RESOLUTION TO AWARD BID FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF FARMERS MARKET SITE DEVELOPMENT
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town of Berlin, Alabama as follows:
WHEREAS, the Town of Berlin has solicited competitive bids pursuant to the Public Works Bid Law, for the development of the Berlin Farmers Market Site;
AND WHEREAS, the Town of Berlin resolves to award the bid to the lowest responsible bidder, according to the special specifications determined and placed on file;
AND WHEREAS, the invitation for bids was advertised with the public opening date of 2:00 pm local time on Thursday, January 16, 2024. Bids were publicly opened, the total bids being as follows:
Jet-Pep, Inc. $1,304,111.62
CH Harris, Inc. $1,199,849.55
Jones Contracting, Inc. $959,441.26
Burks Building, Inc. $938,040.56
AND WHEREAS, Burks Building, Inc., was determined to be the lowest responsible bidder;
AND WHEREAS, the Town Council authorized the Mayor to negotiate with Burks Building, Inc. to find value-engineering opportunities to bring the project cost within budget;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town of Berlin that a contract be awarded to Burks Building, Inc. in the revised bid amount of Seven Hundred Thirty-Three Thousand, Five Hundred Twenty-Three Dollars & Sixty-Four Cents ($733,523.64).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Town of Berlin that the Mayor is hereby authorized to act on behalf of the Town Council to execute contracts and related documents that may arise between the Town of Berlin, Alabama and Burks Building, Inc. related to the farmers market site development.
