Regular Meeting
- Meeting called to order by Mayor Patrick Bates on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 7:00 P.M.
- Roll call by Clerk Keirstyn Montgomery. All members present.
- Mayor Patrick Bates asked for public comments, there were none.
- Approval of minutes from April 19, 2021 Regular Meeting. Motion to approve by Donald Gunter, second by Bruce Bentley. Approved 6-0.
- Approval of May invoices. Motion to approve by Don Bates, second by Jimbo Quick. Approved 6-0.
- Mayor Patrick Bates informed Council that FEMA has accepted the Town of Berlin’s Letter of Intent for HMGP funding.
- Council discussed CBDG Planning Grant. Motion to postpone applying for CBDG Planning Grant until next year made by Jimbo Quick, second by Bruce Bentley. Approved 6-0.
- Mayor Patrick Bates presented RESOLUTION NO. 2021-001 CULLMAN COUNTY COMMISSION BIDS. Motion to approve made by Donald Gunter, second by Keith Hardman. Approved 6-0.
- Mayor Patrick Bates presented RESOLUTION NO. 2021-002 2021 DIVISION F PHASE 1 REGIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN to adopt as amended. Motion to approve made by Donald Gunter, second by Jimbo Quick. Approved 6-0.
- Council discussed road resurfacing projects. Motion to allocate up to $100,000 from road and general funds in addition to $100,000 provided by a state grant to start road resurfacing of County Roads 1600, our portions of 1625 and 1626. County Roads 1612 & 1614 to be ground to dirt roads. Motion made by Keith Hardman, second by Bruce Bentley. Approved 6-0.
- Council discussed CITIZEN PARTICIPATION PLAN. Motion to approve CITIZEN PARTICIPATION PLAN made by Jimbo Quick, second by Donald Gunter. Approved 6-0.
- Council discussed quotes for Town Hall outdoor water faucet. Motion to hire Vest Plumbing in the amount of $225 made by Bruce Bentley, second by Don Bates. Approved 6-0.
- Council discussed Farmers Market electric, tabled until next Regular Meeting.
- Council discussed quotes for Town Hall landscaping. Motion to hire Steve Clark in the amount of $3,500 made by Bruce Bentley, second by Keith Hardman. Approved 6-0.
- Council discussed quotes for storage container for Town Hall. Motion to purchase 8 x 20 storage container from Decatur Container for $3,250 made by Don Bates, second by Keith Hardman. Approved 6-0.
- Council made motion to hold town meetings at the Berlin Town Hall starting in July 2021. Motion made by Donald Gunter, second by Keith Hardman. Approved 6-0.
- In other business, Council discussed planning a Fall Festival with the Berlin Fire Department.
- Motion to adjourn by Donald Gunter, second by Jimbo Quick. Approved 6-0.
