Regular Meeting
- Meeting called to order by Mayor Patrick Bates on Monday, January 17, at 7:02 P.M. at the Berlin Town Hall.
- Invocation – Councilman Donald Gunter.
- Pledge of Allegiance – Mayor Patrick Bates.
- Roll call by Town Clerk Keirstyn Montgomery. All members present.
- Mayor Patrick Bates asked for public comments. There were none.
- Council opened bids for B2022-001 BUSH HOGGING / MOWING.
- Council received 2 bids for item # 1: mowing, weed eating, and other general maintenance of town property. Bid received from Steve Clark in the amount of $100 per cut. Bid received from Glen Laney in the amount of $100 per cut. Motion to hire Glen Laney for item # 1: mowing, weed eating, and other general maintenance of town property pending proof of insurance in the amount of $100 per cut made by Councilman Keith Hardman, second made by Councilman James Sanford. Approved 6-0.
- Council received 1 bid for item # 2: bush hogging town property. Bid received from Steve Clark in the amount of $800 per cut. Motion to hire Steve Clark for item # 2: bush hogging town property in the amount of $800 per cut pending proof of insurance made by Councilman James Sanford. Second made by Councilman Donald Gunter. Approved 6-0.
- Approval of minutes from December 20, 2021, Regular Meeting. Motion to approve made by Councilman Donald Gunter, second made by Councilman Tony Duke. Approved 6-0.
- Approval of January 2022 invoices. Motion to approve by Councilman Tony Duke, second made by Councilman James Sanford. Approved 6-0.
- Council discussed American Rescue Plan’s Final Rule
- Councilman James Sanford made motion to accept remaining America Rescue Plan funds as the standard allowance for lost revenue. Second made by Councilman Tony Duke. Approved 6-0.
- Mayor Patrick Bates informed council that he has hired Cooper, Hill, and LaCoix, CPA for fiscal year 2021 audit to be performed by Jeremey Jeffreys.
- In other business, Council discussed looking to implement business licenses.
- Mayor Patrick Bates asked for motion to allow $200 to be spent at the Eva Surplus by Clerk Keirstyn Montgomery for office supplies. Motion made by Councilman James Sanford, second made by Councilman Donald Gunter. Approved 6-0.
- Councilman James Sanford made motion to enter Executive Session for the reason of advice from attorneys regarding potential litigation with immediate adjournment following. Second made by Councilman Donald Gunter. Approved 6-0. Roll-Call Vote: Mayor Patrick Bates- Yes, Councilman Donald Gunter – Yes, Councilman James Sanford – Yes, Councilman Tony Duke – Yes, Councilman Donald Gunter – Yes, Councilman Keith Hardman – Yes. Approved 6-0.
