Regular Meeting
- Meeting called to order by Mayor Patrick Bates on Monday, March 21, at 7:00 P.M. at the Berlin Town Hall.
- Invocation – Councilman James Sanford.
- Pledge of Allegiance – Mayor Patrick Bates.
- Roll call by Town Clerk Keirstyn Montgomery. Donald Gunter, not present.
- Mayor Patrick Bates asked for public comments. There were none.
- Approval of minutes from February 21, 2022, Regular Meeting. Motion to approve made by Councilman James Sanford, second made by Councilman Tony Duke. Approved 5-0.
- Council discussed Farmers Market opening day.
- Mayor Patrick Bates informed Council that the Berlin Farmers Market Growers Meeting will be Friday, March 25, 2022, at 3:00 PM located at the Berlin Town Hall.
- Council discussed 2022 Berlin Farmers Market Rules & Regulations. Councilman James Sanford made motion to adopt 2022 Berlin Farmers Market Rules & Regulations. Second made by Councilman Tony Duke. Approved 5-0.
- Mayor Patrick Bates presented quotes for water line and frost-free faucet to be installed at the Berlin Farmers Market.
- Vest Plumbing-$1,250, MD Wells-$1,000, Borden Services-$1,875.90.
- Councilman Tony Duke made motion to hire MD Wells in the amount of $1,000 to install water line and frost-free faucet at Berlin Farmers Market. Second made by James Sanford. Approved 5-0.
- Councilman James Sanford made motion to purchase 2 banners for use at the Berlin Farmers Market from Creative Signs in the amount of $432. Second made by Don Bates. Approved 5-0.
- Council discussed park and recreation. Councilman Don Bates made motion to prepare a request of proposals for park and recreation design. Second made by Councilman Tony Duke. Approved 5-0.
- Councilman James Sanford made motion to apply for FY2023 Alabama’s Mountains, Rivers, and Valley’s RC&D Council grant. Second made by Councilman Tony Duke. Approved 5-0.
- Council discussed business licensing schedules.
- In Other Business: Mayor Patrick Bates discussed town seal.
- Mayor Patrick Bates asked for permission to approve the remediation of the flagpole light located at Town Hall in the amount not to exceed $493. Motion to approve made by James Sanford. Second Made by Tony Duke. Approved 5-0.
- Mayor Patrick Bates reminded Council SEI’s are due by April 30.
- Mayor Patrick Bates presented annexation request from Jacob Dye.
- Councilman James Sanford made motion to suspend the rules and accept the Annexation Petition of Jacob Dye. Second made by Tony Duke. Mayor Patrick Bates asked for Roll-Call Vote: Mayor Patrick Bates – Yes, Councilman James Sanford – Yes, Councilman Tony Duke – Yes, Councilman Don Bates – Yes, Councilman Keith Hardman – Yes. Approved 5-0. Approved 5-0.
- Councilman Don Bates made motion to accept the Annexation Petition of Jacob Dye. Second made by Councilman James Sanford. Mayor Patrick Bates asked for Roll-Call Vote: Mayor Patrick Bates – Yes, Councilman James Sanford – Yes, Councilman Tony Duke – Yes, Councilman Don Bates – Yes, Councilman Keith Hardman – Yes. Approved 5-0.
