MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE
TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF BERLIN, ALABAMA
HELD MONDAY, APRIL 15, 2024
The Town Council of the Town of Berlin met in Regular Session on this date and time following publication and posting pursuant to Alabama law.
Meeting called to order by Mayor Patrick Bates on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 7:00 P.M. at the Berlin Town Hall.
Invocation – Councilman Donald Gunter.
Pledge of Allegiance – Mayor Patrick Bates.

Council Member Place # 2 – James Sanford – Present
Council Member Place # 3 – Tony Duke – Present
Council Member Place # 4 – Eudon Bates – Present
Council Member Place # 5 – Keith Hardman – Present
Public Comments – Edith Chancey inquired about starting a Community Watch.
- Councilman James Sanford made motion to approve Minutes from March 18, 2024, Regular Meeting. Second made by Councilman Tony Duke. Approved 6-0.
- Mayor Patrick Bates informed Council that the Town of Berlin has been awarded the ALM Gold Risk Management Award by the Alabama League of Municipalities for the 6th consecutive year.
- Councilman James Sanford made motion to transfer ownership of ‘Web Hosting” from Mayor Patrick Bates to the Town of Berlin and change line items “Web Hosting & Email & Domain” in FY2024 Budget to one line item “IT Subscriptions & Services” . Second made by Councilman Keith Hardman. Approved 6-0.
- Mayor Patrick Bates informed Council that the preliminary work has been received from St. John & Associates for County Roads 1612 & 1614 and proposal is being prepared to put out for bid.
- Mayor Patrick Bates informed Council the Town of Berlin was not awarded in the first round of Rebuild Alabama funds.
- Mayor Patrick Bates informed Council that the joint agreement with the Cullman County Road Department & the town has been suspended immediately due to unforeseen circumstances.
- Motion to adjourn made by Councilman James Sanford. Second made by Councilman Donald Gunter. Approved 5-0.
- The Town Council of the Town of Berlin adjourned at 7:21 PM.
The next Regular Meeting of the Berlin Town Council will be May 20, 2024, held at the Berlin Town Hall at 7:00 PM.
