MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE
TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF BERLIN, ALABAMA
HELD MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2024
The Town Council of the Town of Berlin met in Regular Session on this date and time following publication and posting pursuant to Alabama law.
Meeting called to order by Mayor Patrick Bates on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 7:00 P.M. at the Berlin Town Hall.
Invocation – Councilman Donald Gunter.

Public Comments – There were none.
- Councilman James Sanford made motion to approve the Minutes from August 19, 2024, Regular Meeting. Second made by Councilman Keith Hardman. Approved 6-0.
- Council discussed Town Clerk Keirstyn Montgomery’s graduation from the Certified Government Accounting Program with the University of Alabama. Councilman James Sanford made motion to raise the salary of the clerk to $60,000 annually starting October 2024 and Hours of the Clerk to be Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm, effective October 28, 2024. Second made by Keith Hardman. Approved 6-0.
- Council discussed County Roads 1612 & 1614.
- Mayor Patrick Bates informed Council that the Town of Berlin has been awarded a $5,000 grant from AMRV RC&D for handicap accessibility for the park & farmers market project.
- Councilman James Sanford made motion to approve FY2025 Budget in the amounts of, General Fund: $308,000, Road Fund: $387,000, Capital Fund: $600,000. Second made by Councilman Keith Hardman. Approved 6-0.
- Councilman James Sanford made motion to approve CCR Architecture & Interiors’ proposal for park and farmers market project architect in the amount of 5.5%. Second made by Councilman Keith Hardman. Approved 6-0.
- Councilman James Sanford made motion to purchase a 220V UPS Battery Backup from PLMG in the amount of $1,500. Second made by Councilman Tony Duke. Approved 5-0. Mayor Patrick Bates-Abstained.
- Motion to adjourn made by Councilman James Sanford. Second made by Councilman Donald Gunter. Approved 6-0.
- The Town Council of the Town of Berlin adjourned at 7:29 PM.
The next Regular Meeting of the Berlin Town Council will be held October 21, 2024, at the Berlin Town Hall at 7:00 PM.
